Bug#231949: Debian Installation Report
I will try this as soon as I have a free moment, and let you know.

I am on a network with a DHCP server configured such that:
A) The hostname is important.
B) The hostname must begin with a particular capital letter.
I think such setups are supported now. Can you please get a current
image from http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/sarge_d-i/ and try
that. Automatic DHCP will be tried, and it will fail in your case
because no hostname has been entered yet. Then, you can try again and
it should now be possible to enter a hostname.
Does that work?
