I made more testing yesterday evening and I am afraid that the fact the install succed with a floppy drive attached to the computer was a coincidence. I made 5 install without floppy and it fails 4 times. It fails when downloading the packages from the base system: "The debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 1)". The errors I saw in the log where only the "insmod floppy.ko failed" errors. I suppose it's a problem with the mirror or may be with my hardware. One thing I don't understand is that after the install succeeded, I had no more problem for downloading all the packages I needed (X, gnome, ...), using the same mirror. Sorry for the false alarm and thank's for a fine installer.
