I doubt it will inspire the levels of objection to the various names for
Taiwan :-), but, despite the misleading and historical two-letter
country code, the full name of the country is "United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland". "United Kingdom" is an acceptable short
form. "Great Britain" is inaccurate - it describes only one part of the
country - and it looks sloppy to people like me who grew up in Northern
Ireland.
