30 may go/no-go day - is it good enough to release?
31 may release day if go, else add fixes to testing and repeat
02 june end of debconf4

The string freeze has begin today. Branching the tree for rc1 has begun,
and the sarge_d-i CDs, and other autobuilt boot images in unstable in
the archive are available for testing. Please test those images and see
if everything works and post installation reports or reports to this
mailing list. We need to get the images tested on all arches over the
next 3 days. Please do what testing you can, and invite anyone you know
who has some interesting hardware to test with it.

I've been moving several updated udebs to testing each day this week,
and will keep doing that based on the web page
<http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/testing-summary.html>. Please look
over that page for things that need to go in and have not, and do
testing or look at installation reports to see if the stuff works. The
main thing I would like to get in still is partman, but that will
require resolving the libdebian-installer/anna situation, so we can test
it in unstable first.

The following packages have code changes in svn that have not yet been
uploaded to unstable. Some have older versions still waiting to enter
testing, and an upload could further delay those from reaching testing;
uploads of these should be done with caution and I've marked those with
'*'; the others should be uploaded to unstable soon so the code changes
can be checked and potentially get into testing in time.

cdebconf *
netcfg *
aboot-installer
silo-installer
palo-installer
colo-installer
s390-netdevice
s390-dasd
main-menu
partman *
partman-target *
partman-palo
partman-newworld *
(this list may be incomplete)

By the way, I'm making an exception to all this <ahem> beauracracy for
s390. If someone manages to get s390 in unstable working, or even mostly
working, we can copy _all_ the s390 stuff to testing immediatly. For
this arch, anything is better than nothing. Recent progress is looking
promising, please let's finish porting to all arches for rc1!
