Please use 2.4 for now; future 2.6 kernels will include the tg3 module
again.

Unfortunately, nobody is working on EVMS for d-i at the moment.

I don't think having hc as the first disk is that uncommon, so we
should try to make this work. What problems did you encounter
exactly?
