The problem you mention with /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0 and 
/dev/hda is probably because the installation was done on a kernel with 
devfs support (and fstab created accordingly). Did you enable devfs in 
the 2.6 kernel you compiled (and if you do, you probably want to install 
devfsd as well just to make sure)?

With regards to the 2Gb vs 10Gb swap partition, could you please 
elaborate on which steps you performed? Did you create a 10Gb swap 
partition using the partitioning step of the installer, and in which way 
was only 2Gb used?
