today I build a miniiso for sparc, which worked for me.

be aware that you need to enter 'linux ramdisk_size=8192' at
SILO-prompt, since the initrd exceeds 4MB.
And if your graphics adaptor is a SBUS/UPA one, you also need to add
'debian-installer/framebuffer=false' there is a problem with these
framebuffers, but I don't remember the bug number, joshk knows more.
