Does the kernel see the drive? (in a shell)
Probably Anton can help with this problem. Did you send him the content of
/val/log/partman (as requested after your last installation-report).

Do you install over serial console? Or is this a special sparc problem. Does
somebody know which package creates the inittab?

Probably busybox or nano.
