Bug#246007: Too much temporary space needed during install

Package: install
Version: 1.3-16

Dear all,

Thank you for this great work. The new installer is much better than the
previous. Only one remark:

It is impossible to install to an 128 Mb USB key. The key is full of
temporary .deb files (/var/cache/apt?) and the installer stops.

Would it be possible to add an option to store temporary files in RAMDISK?

In the documentation, it is explained: "You must have at least 32MB of memory
and 110MB of hard disk space. For a minimal console-based system (all
standard packages), 250MB is required." Maybe you should add "to store
temporary files during installation."

I hope hat a 1 Gb installation does not require 2 Gb of disc space.

Needing so much temp space should be considered as a bug.

Best regards,
Jean-Michel
