Comments/Problems:
*1 You already know it was a bad idea to default to DHCP. The manual net
config was fine.

*2 The boot loader install defaults to the disk containing /, not the
"first" hard disk (which will be booted). Having not noticed this, I was
then unable to use the installer CD as a rescue disk, to mount my sdb8
filesystem and re-run LILO. Is this intentional or did I miss something?
I tried several variations of "linux root=/dev/sdb8" (including
root=/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/part8) and nothing worked, so I had
to re-run the entire install. This strikes me as a bit unnecessary, given
that the install had worked and it was simply a typo which caused LILO to
install on the wrong disk. Also, LILO does not scan for windoze partitions
and install a default "other" image, which it did in previous versions.

Anyway, congratulations on a working installer (I tried an alpha version a
month or two ago and it failed on both machines - this one because I have
no IDE HDs and the other one because it lacked SiI3112 support). This is
my 2nd install report - the first install is still in progress
(downloading 424Mb of packages), so I'll send that report when it's
finished.

Regards,

CC
