Comments/Problems:
I am using auto partition all files in one partition. Installer suggests:
#1 primary 4.0 GB (lightning) (smiley) ext3 /
#5 logical 215.6 MB (smiley) swap
I want to increase the size of the swap partition, so I select it and
press Return. In the next menu I select size and press Return.
I get an dialog stating:
"Before the resize operation takes place, the changes have to be written
to the storage devices.
[snap]
Write the changes to the storage devices and resize the partition?
<Go Back> <Yes> <No>"
This is a strange dialog because I am not changing a partition table I am
changing the suggestion done by the installer. But since the disk is empt=
y
I select Yes to proceed.
Expected behaviour: No write to disk (and thus no dialog).
I continue an change the size value into "512 MB" and select Continue.
The ext3 partition is create and resize starts. I get the following error
dialog:
"Can't have a partition outside the disk!
<Go Back> <Continue>"
After selecting Continue I am back at the Partition disks dialog with the
following partitions:
#1 primary 4.0 GB (lighting) (dog?) ext3 /
pri/log 214.6 MB FREE SPACE
#5 logical 516.0 kB swap
NOTE: 516.0 kiloB.
What appears to happen is the installer tries to extend the 214 MB swap
partition to 512 MB which of course exceeds the disk size.
Expected behaviour: The installer shrinks the root partition with 512 -
214 MB and increases the size of the swap to 512.
Note: I applaud the efforts to create a user friendly partitioning system=
s
as is present in most other modern distros, but when you do this it can't
be just a wrapper around cfdisk, it has to be as flexibel as say Partitio=
n
Magic.
