Re: Installation woes on Dell 8300 (SATA Harddisk)

Feb 27, 04 purchased Dell 8300. Pen 4/ 3GHZ/ 120 HD/ 1024 memory.
I am not a computer expert. I have had nothing but problems with this machine
since I purchased it. When I log on the System 32 window opens up and I get
an error message from McAfee that states that the Active Shield is missing
components or there was a faulty installation. I cannot close this window from
McAfee, if I do, my VirusScan will not work. I have to drag the error message
down near the task bar and leave it open. Also, my System Restore does not
work and when I go into Yahoo Pool, the window freezes and I have to go to
Task Manager to end AOL. And I got a "free" Fuji A205 Camera and the USB
Cable can't be connected to the front USB connectors on the CPU.  I have
contacted Dell about this problem and they send me complicated (at least to me)
instructions about reinstalling XP. I am relatively new to computing and I get
dumb founded. I asked them to bring a computer tech to my house to fix the
problems (remember, I am under warranty) and they say it is a software problem
and a technician doesn't come out for that. So, so much for Dell Support. I don't
want to try to "fix" the problems myself (I quess I am afraid I will mess something
up). So in summary: Problems:
                                                1) Problems with McAfee Security System
                                                2) System Restore does not work
                                                3) Yahoo window will not close/have to reboot
Doe you have any suggestions?
