Comments/Problems:
Base system install exited with an error - i am installing over a defunct
debian install on a test system, and i didn't repartition my hard drive or
reformat any of the partitions. it started downloading stuff, and then
dropped me back to the list of installation procedures. i decided to
recreate the filesystems, and answered YES to the question about having to
delete the current partition table. then i got
"[!!] configure and mount partitions
No root partition"
but the system responded VERY slowly, i don't know whether it received the
'enter' key, but it never left that screen. eventually after an hour with
no response to the arrow keys i committed CTRL-ALT-DELETE

     - Test /target/bin/sh and /target/bin/awk and if they exist or are broken
links, warn the user that the target is unclean and install may fail.
At high priority level, cancel the install with an error, suggesting
that the user format or erase the target.
