problems booting debian on Dell Inspiron 600m

Hi,

I am trying to install debian on a new Dell inspiron 600m
laptop (dual boot with Win XP). When trying to boot from
floppies I get an error on the root.bin disk (something
like apm: bios not found). I would like to describe this
error in detail, but I do not know how to make a log file
of the boot process for reporting here. Could someone
tell me how to do such a thing?
