I redirected stderr in /sbin/debian-installer when it calls debconf (ie /usr/share/debconf/frontend /usr/bin/main-menu 2>> /error.log), and got this output: Segmentation fault shift: 30: can't shift that many postinst exited with status 512 I have no idea yet what this means.
