Comments/Problems:
Booting with bootfloppy-image.img seemed to be ok, though I couldn't see
anything about the harddisk. I was asked to insert the second floppy then.
The article mentioned above said to use net_drivers-image.img as second
floppy, but the system obviously did not recognize the disk after inserting
it in the drive. Instead it activated the drive approximatly every five
seconds and printed an additional dot on the screen. The md5sums of the
downloaded images were OK, and I used
$ dd if=net_drivers-image.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1024 conv=sync ; sync
to create the floppies (as said in the woody installation instructions).
I have to correct myself. The article says to use floppy-image.img for the
first disk. But wether I use the image from 20031109 or 20031113 my PC says:
This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and press any
key to try again ...
After turning power off and on, I booted again with bootfloppy-image.img
from 2003-11-13. This I time the floppy didn't seem to hang as before. And
there was a second line, which reads: "Press Enter when ready, or type a
command:"
After inserting net_drivers-image.img from 2003-11-13 it says:
FAT: bogus logical sector size 0
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev 02:00
This message irritates me once more, as file says:
$ file net_drivers-image.img
net_drivers-image.img: Linux rev 0.0 ext2 filesystem data
How can one expect to find a valid FAT on a ext2 floppy?
I couldn't get past this point.
