Bug#220460: Installation fails during component download

Package: installation
Version: sarge i386 floppy images

Procedure: boot from boot floppy image, load floppy image, load additional driver floppy image, select NIC driver, network configured using DHCP, installer component download begins and progresses almost to completion (90%+).

This error message, "Loading scsi-extra-modules_2.4.22-1-386-di failed for unknown reasons. Aborting", was produced near the end of the module download stage. Options to "Go Back" and "Continue" both lock up the installer and no further progress appears possible.

This occurs with both the 9th Nov images and the latest 12th Nov images (using net_drivers-img.img from the 9th Nov), and the failure is repeatable.

The machine in question is a Dell Latitude XPi P133ST laptop (P133, 32MB, 4GB, 800x600x8, Neomagic NM2070, ESS ES1888 PnP AudioDrive), fitted with a D-Link DE-660 PCMCIA network card (selecting the pcnet_cs driver during installation).

I'm happy to provide any more information you'd like, or to retry with updated images and report back.

Regards,
Chris
