Package: modconf
Version: 0.2.44
Severity: wishlist

When the user tries to insert a module for an unconfigured ISA-PnP card,
the driver installation will fail (perhaps mysteriously to the user).
After a module fails initialization, the suggestion should be made that
the user install the isa-pnp module if the hardware in question is an
ISA-PnP card.

"The module failed initialization. Check the hardware resources (I/O,
IRQ) and if the card is a ISA PnP card, ensure that you have installed
the isa-pnp module first."

Short answer: use precompiled kernels if you cannot do it properly in
your own. If you build the isa-pnp module with the kernel, the created
modules (ISA drivers) will depend on it and autoload when needed.

MfG,
Eduard.
