Almost the same behaviour is observed on a Digital Celebris GL 5166 ST,
except for the floppy noise. While loading the kernel the system hangs
indefinetly after three dots showing load progress.
Also tried Redhat 8.0 with mostly the same result. This might be an
incompatability with syslinux. The safe-and-slow methods of loading with
syslinux should be tried.
A same make and model has been installed with Redhat 5.2 which uses LILO on
the installer disk ( this was several years ago ).
