An exhaustive list of changes applied against standard (La)TeX to typeset
French documents is given in
   http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/language/babel/frenchb.dtx
but it needs some LaTeX knowledge to remove formatting tags.
A PDF file is produced by running "pdflatex frenchb.dtx" twice.
