Bug#192792: boot-floppies: installation on NFS root doesn't work: a second way
Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A; reported 2003-05-10
Severity: important
-- System Information
Debian Release: 3.0
Architecture: sparc 32
Kernel: 2.2.19
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C
I am reporting this from a machine which is not the one with the
problem.
This problem is similar to 156308.
I am attempting to install to a SparcStation IPX.
I booted the Sun thus:
boot net ip=dhcp.
The kernel correctly mounts the rootfs containing the installer
The installer did not detect my hard drive, but it did offer me the
choice of mounting an already-partitioned disk. I chose the option and
specified 192.168.0.1:/home/sparc - a writable space on my server.
My server is running Red Hat Linux 7.2, kernel 2.4.18-19.7.x.
The installer is unable to mount 192.168.0.1:/home/sparc. After some
research, I discovered that entering this command at vc2 mounts the disk
area and allows the install to proceed to the next problem.
mount -o nfsvers=2 192.168.0.1:/home/sparc /target
