This looks pretty serious to me.

I've got to the wrong mirror (my type) and I'm trying to enter values
that won't work to see what happens.

When entering proxy information, use the standard form of
"http://[[user][:pass]@]host[:port]/";
> http://cc.computerdatasafe.com.au/debian-sarge/^H^H^H^[[3~^[[3~^[[3~^H^H^H

I'm using minicom at the end of a null modem cable.

The backspace, del, arrow keys all add to that junk. ^C does nothing.

Okay, I've gone through that and I am back at the menu where I can try
again.

Oh dear, that's broken too:
 52. enter information manually
Prompt: 1 - 52, default=Mexico> 52

(frontend_add):
/home/martin/projects/debian-installer/tools/cdebconf/src/frontend.c:15
(frontend_add): Assertion failed: q->prev == NULL

choose-mirror's postinst exited with status 36096

The "I can't correct typing errors" title is kind of ambigous and the
report contained two problem reports, one of which is fixed (the
choose-mirror crash) and the other is uncertain whether it really is a
problem at all.

I'm closing this bug, please reopen it if necessary.
