Doesn't debconf use stdout to communicate? Maybe main-menu shouldn't be fixed, as much as a menutest should either direct all its output to /dev/null or use debconf... In any case, the code right now is broken, since the text buffer containing '>/dev/null' is used for stat() as well as system(). /Martin
