ATA 100 Hard Disk Problem

Hi,

I've got a new ATA100 hard disk and tried to install Debian 3.0 Woody
from new CD-ROMs I just bought. Unfortunately, the boot process doesn't
get any further than the messages below. The ATA seems to be recognized
and supported but not so the partition table. My hardware (only drives) is:
hda: WD, HDD
hdb: LS-120
hdc: Pioneer, DVD-ROM
hdd: -
hde: Maxtor, ATA100, 60 GB, HDD

--- 8< ---
...
hda: WDC ...
hdb: LS-120 VER5 ...
hde: Maxtor 4d060H3, ATA DISK drive

...
hde: 120069936 sectors (61476MB) w/2048kiB Cache, CHS=119117/16/63, UDMA(100)
...
Partition check:
hda: hda1 hda2 hda3 hda4
hde: unknown partition table

Well, it doesn't go any futher. I tried all four kernels offered at the
boot prompt but only bf24 seemed to recognize the ATA controller.
What's wrong?

Thanks,
Christian
