Bug#156334: boot-floppies: [powerpc] Installation of kernel fails when path to kernel contains spaces
Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-11
Severity: important
Mac users often times download items to their desktop. If the debian
archive folders are downloaded to the desktop, they actually reside in
/Desktop\ Folder/ . In this situation, the installer correctly finds
the archive mirror files, but the installation fails after the user
agrees that it is the right path.
After moving the archive files out of /Desktop\ Folder/ on to the root
of the partition, the install proceeds normally. I believe the spaces
need to be escaped in the code, if they appear in the pathname. There
must be a nice routine to do this in C, I don't know... but it looks
like the place to fix it up is around line 1506 in choose_medium.c.
