HFS doesn't understand partitions any larger than 2GB, IIRC. Although
it should be booting from the CD. But I believe this machine will not
boot that CD from OpenFirmware. Still, you might try "boot cd:,yaboot".

This machine will never be happy with potato, which is the version
you're trying. You need woody, to be released any day now, and you need
the new-powermac version to support this machine properly. The install 
manual for woody, which includes download links, is in my .sig.
