Bug#149698: Dell 2650 & Debian boot

We have a couple of 2650's right now. We were able to get past the sym53c416 spot using the 2.4 kernel, but at this point we're looking for the gigabit ethernet drivers and correct raid drivers. We can't identify the modules we need to get the install completed.

The biggest problem is that in the the current boot floppy the sym53c416
driver is loaded by default.

NO. I cannot discover this driver on the root disk or in the kernel
configuration, it is only a module, stored in the drivers.tgz volume. So
WHAT do you mean?

As said, find the real reason for your crash, then we may help.

Difficult for me to redo the test. The ordered 2650 left my office now. I've
to wait for the next one.

Something is wrong somewhere because when I was booting the cdrom (beta from
June 10), the system was stopping just after the sym53c416.c driver. I saw
that on the console.

May be someone can redo the test. I've put in copy the last 2 users who
mailed me.
Hi folks, could you try to explain your problem to Eduard. I no longer have
access to the 2650 to clarify the problem.

Cheers,

Stef...
