Bug#148962: boot-floppies: Inaccurately calculates/reports amount of RAM on target machine

Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A; reported 2002-06-03
Severity: normal

On my target system with 12mb of physical RAM, the boot floppies set
complains that I only have 9mb, and should have 12mb to run woody.

Incidentally, 9mb is what 'free' reports. Since this, IIRC, does not
include kernel memory, it is obviously not going to show a completely
accurate number.

Perhaps change the "requirement" to 8-9mb so that when free reports 9mb, it
will meet the requirement, or perhaps find an alternate method to determine
the amount of physical RAM in the machine.
