Bug#144202: boot-floppies: woody floppies fail to mount root disk on p4t based computer

Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A; reported 2002-04-23
Severity: important

i have a computer based on an asus p4t board here with a 1600 mhz p4
cpu and rdram. i also have a p2b based pII.

i downloaded the woody boot floppy images (3.0.22-2002-04-03) in idepci
flavor. they work fine on the p2b, but on the p4 the following happens:
the rescue disk boots fine and asks for the root disk:
+ VFS: Insert Root Floppy Disk to be loaded into RAM Disk and press
ENTER
i do that and press enter, and then it sais:
+ Request_module[Block-Major-2]: Root fs not mounted
+ apm: Bios version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.13)
+ apm Diabled on request
+ VFS: Insert root Floppy and press enter
then i just press enter again and
+ Request_module[Block-Major-2]: Root fs not mounted
+ VFS: cannot open root device 02:00
+ Kernel Panic: Vfs: Unable to mount root fs on 02:00

thats it. i tried with different disks and floppies, and every
combination works in the p2b but not in the p4t.

any suggestions? anything i can try to make it more clear?

regards
robert
