The default .../3.0.19-2002-02-07/images-1.44/rescue.bin, but does
it in any way matter for the problems that I have reported?

Of course I created a journal.  Are you suggesting that the above
log fragment doesn't exactly show what the problem is?

I don't know what "SEP" means, but Joey Hess has kindly fixed this
problem.
