remote installation
I'm not sure where to begin, so I thought I would start here.
What am I doing?
I have a computer located some 1,500 miles away that is at my disposal...
It has a /dev/hda, a cdrom, one NIC, and just about nothing else of
significance. There is 128MB of RAM.
I am trying to put together a floppy/CD-ROM such that I can have someone
with little experience (or time) insert this disk, boot the computer,
and I will access it via ssh from there.
According to sites like the Linux Router Project, this is trivial so far.
The question I have next is, if I can get this far, and can fdisk
/dev/hda, how then would I do a complete debian installation with no
local (boot) disk or CD-ROM but only a network connection to the internet?
Is there a set of files that I could download and then run, or create a
second floppy to have them insert after the first. This could work, but
I would have to make sure that they wouldn't have to do anything (much)
after that.
I am hoping that once I get the complete installation done, I can have
them remove the floppies and then reboot the computer from there.
Suggestions?
