You have it right.  Exactly right!

If the installer is currently in a similar state, the 
kernel modules stuff should be taken out of the installer, net cards should be handled well, kernel 
modules stuff should be well documented,
and people should be educated on the 'lsmod' and 
'modconf' commands.

Screw fair, we want to rule!  If the guy in the red had does 
something that makes sense, then we better, just do it the 
debian way.
