Package: disks-i386 reiserfs (installation disks)
Version: 3.0.14-2001-09-25
Severity: critical

Summary: error does not allow installation program finish installation. =
Instalation disk unusable!!!

Contest:=20
- Setting up debian in a k7 with 256Mg RAM via internet throw =
cable-modem.
- I start the reiserfs image trough loadlin from a fat32 partition to =
install debian in a new partition. it detects the 3com ethernet card to =
access internet throwgh the cable-modem and cofigure it perfectly to =
download necessary drivers and packages.
- While uncompressing the packages (or perhaps just after) this Warning =
appear:

+--------------------------------
|    WARNING
| Failure trying to run: chroot /target dpkg --force-depends--install =
/var/cache/apt/arch
|    Continue
+------------------------------

- I say continue and another message apperars:

+---------------------------
| debootstrap exited with an error (return value 1)
|    Continue
+----------------------

- So the installation cannot continue and there is no chance to resume =
installation. You can try again but you get stuck in the same place.

- Other tests: I tried to install woody and sid. Both had the same =
problem. I tried a previus version of the installation disk, but the =
problem was de same. This installation image had worked out a month ago =
in same conditions, so the problem could be in some recent change in one =
of the basic packages that the installation program download from the =
net.=20

Thank you.
