I recently installed Debian/GNU Linux on my machine, which was running
Dos/Windows 95 previously.

I have a 1.10Gig drive that was configured in one partition of the whole
drive.

After I installed Linux and repartitioned the disk Dos and Windows were
still able to access the entire drive. An I was afraid of installing
anything else in Dos or Windows incase it overwrote Linux. I looked through
what I though would be the relevent FAQs and HOW-TOs and couldn't find the
answer. I posted on the linux newsgroup and didn't get any meaning full
help there either so I dug out all my Dos references and assembly books and
coded a solution myself. Basically what the program does is reads the
master boot record and finds the size of the dos/win partition, then it
reads in the dos/win boot record edits it, and writes is back to disk. This
cleared up my problems and now the computer is fine.

I've included the program in this message so that the debian people could
look at it and if there is nothing else available to fix this problem or
perhaps the current way to fix it is complicated, they'd like to include my
program in future distributions for people who have had the same problem as
me.

The program's usage is simple, just type the name of the program and the
rest is automated. The zip file im sending you includes the source which is
commented.

Thank-you,

James Gerow.
