I used boot floppies version 3.0.18.

I copied basedebs.tgz to a spare partition before booting the rescue disk.

Selected Hard Disk: Partition on the Hard Disk, /dev/hdc4 where I had copied
the Base System archive, and then got a "Mount Failed" response.  The
partition was not mounted successfully.
