Jaqque told me that this bug was supposed to be fixed already.  But it is not.  I used his 3.0.19 boot floppies, which I got from http://sbih.org/debian/bf3.0.19, IIRC.

I tried the 3.0.18 boot floppies which I got from a Debian Mirror, and got the same results.
