There's also a long pause while it tries working > out what the md5sums and sizes of the packages it needs are. > > (In any event, whatever the delay is here, it can't be fixed until it's > accurately diagnosed) my next set of patches which fix the last flaws in the progress bar stuffs add a new info message for md5 validation, so particularly in the basedeb.tgz case you will get a progress bar as it verifies md5sums and the messages: Validating /var/cache/apt/archives/blahblahblah_0.0.0-0_powerpc.deb it will also display a progress bar for the dpkg runs, this is a tad bit blocky, but ive managed to balance it well enough to seem mostly natural. its certainly better then displaying a dialog with a completly filled progress bar and: Extracting whiptail. for 10 minutes. -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
