Package: boot-floppies
Version: 20011015
Severity: critical

-- System Information
Debian Release: testing/unstable
Kernel Version: Linux quanyin 2.2.19 #1 Sat Jul 28 18:31:56 EST 2001 i686 unknown

error message repaeated several times, from dbg_log.tgz:
dbootstrap[153]: Failure trying to run: chroot / target dpkg --force-auto-select --force-overwrite --force

this happened after the base installation packages had been retrieved from http://http.debian.org/ for a woody system.

i was able to make a boot floppy, and with Toms rootboot, edit /etc/fstab so that i could boot the system.

at that point i could log in, and look at things, but daemons will not run, noting is getting logged to any file in /var/log so i cannot look for errors.
