I have seen a couple people mention that dhcp network configuration worked for them with cvs boot-floppies. when i tested it failed, and now the only reason i can think of as to why is that i have a bootp server, not a dhcp server. (only reason i have it is to netboot this powermac which wants bootp). potato boot-floppies configure the network fine with this setup, as did MacOS before i obliterated it. looking at the logs everything appears to be working fine, from the server logs: Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: version 2.4.3 Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: reading "/etc/bootptab" Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: read 1 entries (1 hosts) from "/etc/bootptab" Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: found 192.168.0.1 (socrates) Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: Received: DHCPDISCOVER Jun 8 03:36:19 plato bootpd[4571]: Sent: DHCPOFFER Jun 8 03:36:21 plato bootpd[4549]: found 192.168.0.1 (socrates) Jun 8 03:36:21 plato bootpd[4549]: Received: DHCPREQUEST Jun 8 03:36:21 plato bootpd[4549]: Sent: DHCPACK [repeats] the client logs (which i didn't make a copy of) look basically the same, it shows that its recieving everything the server sends. the man page for dhcp-client implys that it supports bootp, so whats wrong? -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
