d-i has an autobuild of all but the disk images, which you need root to
build. I think the boot-floppies build process is less seperated, and
you probably need real root (not fakeroot) in several places.
I wouldn't run an auto-update-and-build as root on a box I maintain, but
YMMV. :-)
