debian-boot translations

Hi,

I would like to help in geting support for Romanian in Debian.
I am trying to translate the debian.txt, readme.txt and f1.txt
to f10.txt from /debian/dists/potato/main/disks-i386/current/lang/,
but I have the following problems:

  o I can't find the English files. It is OK because I also
speak French, but for an accurate translation I will need the
English ones.

  o I see that the files have some control sequences, like
ctrl-O followed by 07 or 09 or 0b or 0f, etc. Those control
sequences are not understood by less, more, cat, most, etc.
Do I have to reproduce those too?

  o Where do I specify the encoding?

Thank you for your help.

Regards,
	Ionel

P.S. The page "http://www.debian.org/international/Romanian";
refer to a group which do not translate Debian pages, it is
mostly RedHat.
