Package: /lib/modules/2.2.17/modules.dep. (Shouldn't it be .deb?)
Version: 2.2.17
When trying to install Debian 2.2 from CDROM, I get continuous error
messages from modprobe about not being able to open dependencies file:
/lib/modules/2.2.17/modules/dep
Here is the message:
modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file
/lib/modules/2.2.17/modules/dep
(No such file or directory)

I obtained the three CDROM binarary disks from Edmunds Enterprises of
America, Inc. 3039 Etta Circle, Deltona, FL 32738-7202

I think there is a typo in the filename. I think the extension should
read: .deb and not .dep. That could be the reason modprobe could not
find it.

I am using Debian 2.2 but I am not certain of the kernel version. Sorry.

As of new versions of boot-floppies, 2.2.17 or 2.2.18, this bug does
not exist.

BTw, the file should indeed be called .../modules.dep. But there was a
bad bug in boot-floppies 2.2.16 where this would sometimes happen.

I'm closing the bug since it was fixed in 2.2.17. Please let us know
if you still get this with new boot-floppies.
