Bug#72246: boot-floppies: Using 2.2.16 (2.2r0) sets hostname to the short hostname, rather than fqdn

Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A
Severity: normal

Hi,

I tried to append the info in this report to #50014, but the BTS
didn't like that, so I am just submitting a new report.

I recently did a clean install using boot floppies 2.2.16, ie,
same as 2.2r0. When the network was being configured, I entered
the hostname as `eden-hda7', and the domain as `my.local'.

After I re-booted, and completed the install, I noticed that the
hostname was incorrect. What is strange is that the hosts,
mailname and resolv.conf files were setup correctly, while the
hostname file was not.

Here is the contents of these files,

    3 jeff ~ $ co -p1.1 /etc/hostname
    /etc/RCS/hostname,v  -->  standard output
    revision 1.1
    eden-hda7

    4 jeff ~ $ co -p1.1 /etc/mailname
    co: /etc/RCS/mailname,v: No such file or directory
    5 jeff ~ $ cat /etc/mailname
    eden-hda7.my.local

    6 jeff ~ $ co -p1.1 /etc/resolv.conf
    /etc/RCS/resolv.conf,v  -->  standard output
    revision 1.1
    nameserver 127.0.0.1
    search my.local
    nameserver 207.172.3.8
    nameserver 207.172.3.9

    8 jeff ~ $ co -p1.1 /etc/hosts
    /etc/RCS/hosts,v  -->  standard output
    revision 1.1
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    192.168.1.22    eden-hda7.my.local      eden-hda7

Thanks,
