Re: Compact install fails on my hardware



Hello.

I have an si87 custom-tweaked permedia2 card and an IBM 9504
fixed-frequency monitor myself.

I'm pretty sure you'll want to disable the vga16 framebuffer on the rescue
kernel. I think it initialises the hardware to 640x400@60 at boot time.
I'm not sure what the kernel paramater to disable framebuffer is on
2.2.15, or even if there is such a paramater.

Also, try searching www.si87.com for your monitor (I'm assuming it's also
fixed-frequency; you didn't mention it at all). They have xfree86
modelines for several monitors there, and can be converted into an fbcon
modeline.
