The default entry for the image setting is:

image=vmlinuz

it should be:

image=/vmlinuz

otherwise it fails to find the image when lilo is not
run from the root directory.

The bug you reported against the Debian boot-floppies has been closed
since we believe it is resolved as of boot-floppies version 2.2.12.
