Bug#58048: Is this really a DNS issue?

I am seeing exactly the same behavior with the network install failing
using the frozen boot set. However, if I drop out to a shell and try to
ping known good addresses by raw IP address, this fails also, indicating
that network connectivity well below the level of DNS is at fault.

I am using a custom kernel build on the boot floppy for hardware support
reasons, so I am not comfortable filing this as a bug against the frozen
boot set. However, I would be curious to know what the results are if you
perform the test I recommended.

Even trying to ping my own IP address -- that is, the IP address of the
eth0 interface itself -- fails.
