Extra space in 2.2.8-compact

I'm unable to do anything with the modules or pcmcia parts of the
installation of 2.2.8-compact from 16 Feb because it seems to think it's
called "2.2.8-compact " with a trailing space.

For example:

Feb 26 16:04:53 (none) user.info dbootstrap[25]: depmod: Can't open
/lib/modules /2.2.14-compact /modules.dep for writing

Feb 26 16:04:48 (none) daemon.err insmod:
/target/lib/modules/2.2.14-compact/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o:
kernel-module version mismatch
^I/target/lib/modules/2.2.14-compact/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o was
compiled for kernel version 2.2.14-compact ^Iwhile
this kernel is version 2.2.14-compact .
