Bug#58266: bf-2.2.7: PCMCIA network install is broken

Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A;
Severity: grave

I believe this bug may have already been reported but joeyh wanted me to file it to make sure everyone is aware.

I tried to install potato using bf-2.2.7 today and I could not get pcmcia network install to work. I went through and selected pcmcia and then went to configure network. The first time I tried network it asked if I wanted to use dhcp and it timed out. I tried to configure an address but that didn't work either. I then went back through and tried to setup network again but it said something about no network card being found (sorry I don't have the exact message). I went to the second console and did an ifconfig and there was no eth0. I also ran lsmod and the following were loaded (iirc)

pcmcia-core
i82365
ds
serial

But not my ethernet card driver (3x574_cs). I tried to run /etc/init.d/pcmcia stop and it gave errors so I killed cardmgr then ran stop, it gave errors again (iirc) and I manually unloaded the modules then ran /etc/init.d/pcmcia start. This gave more error messages (sorry I don't remember the exact errors) one of them was about start-stop-daemon. If needed I can try again and get the exact error messages.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney (calc)
