Yes.
[kaboom@hanuman kaboom]$ sudo dpkg -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/base-config_0.16_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 110324 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace base-config 0.16 (using
.../base-config_0.16_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement base-config ...
Setting up base-config (0.16) ...
/usr/share/base-config/stage5: /tmp/keybd_settings:: No such file or
directory
dpkg: error processing base-config (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
base-config
[kaboom@hanuman kaboom]$
I've done some more poking around, and figured out where it's breaking. In
the stage5 postinstall, it executes /root/dbootstrap_settings if that
exists.
[kaboom@hanuman base-config]$ sudo cat /root/dbootstrap_settings
BUILDTIME='20000126-2144'
/tmp/keybd_settings: No such file or directory
[kaboom@hanuman base-config]$
However, I'm not sure where dbootstrap_settings comes from, why mine says
what it says, if it should be there, what base-config should be doing with
it, etc. It looks like it was created when I installed the system (late
January, using the potato boot disks), and never modified since. It's not
owned by anything. Another Debian box I installed around the same time
doesn't even have that file, but on that one I actually have logged in as
root, so I may have noticed it, assumed it was junk, and deleted it.
later,
chris
