even when putting a kernel image on resc1440.bin that supports the mylex
Raid (dac960) and sees the hardware, the install program can't see the
drives because
                /dev/rd/c0d0 .... etc
are not in /dev.

They are as of boot-floppies 2.2.5, at least.
